Description | Values for the linear depolarization ratio (LDR) have been identified as too high. An error in the LDR indicates one or both of the backscatter cross or backscatter copol signals are not correct. Backscatter and LDR data should be treated qualitatively unless a correction is applied. |

Description | Overlap and dead-time instrument corrections in the 30smplcmask1zwang VAP were not applied in the correct order. As a result, very high backscatter signals near 500 m can sometimes exceed the acceptable maximum signal for applying a dead-time correction. Regions, where the dead-time correction is not applied, appear as an artificial band or artifact. Cloud detection is not impacted by this issue. |

Description | The MPLCMASK VAP was expecting the MPL to be covered around local solar noon. As a result, the algorithm intermittently set much of the data to -9999 during this time period after the site transitioned to total darkness during the winter months. During the peak of this problem, the impacted fields were set to -9999 from approximately 0:00-2:19 UTC each day. This information is being provided in a transparent DQR due to the intermittent nature of the problem and the fact that the impacted data are already set to -9999 and flagged by the automated quality control variables in the VAP. A future reprocessing task will correct this problem. |
