Subject: | TWP/MMCR/C1 - Reflectivities too high |
DataStreams: | twpmmcrmomC1.b1 |
Description: | Recent statistical analysis comparing the MMCR on Manus with the MMCRs on Nauru and Darwin along with Cloudsat suggest there is an approximately +10 dB bias to the reflectivites on Manus. Analysis is currently underway to determine the source of this bias and whether it is applicable to all modes and ranges. |

Subject: | TWP/PBLHT/C1-Oceanic Site Planetary Boundary Layer Heights (PBLHs) from Radiosondes - |
DataStreams: | twppblhtsonde1mcfarlC1.s1 |
Description: | Automated methods for estimating PBLHs from radiosonde data may in some instances be identifying shallow stable layers over island surfaces as the PBLH. Insufficient data exists at this time to modify the automated algorithms to resolve this situation. Reported oceanic site PBLHs of <100 m, particularly at night, should be used with caution. |

Subject: | TWP/MERGESONDE/C1 - Reprocess: Suspect rh_scaled values |
DataStreams: | twpmergesonde1maceC1.c1 |
Description: | MERGESONDE sometimes uses bad or questionable precipitable water vapor data to scale the relative humidity profiles provided by the rh_scaled field. In addition, this bad input data is not properly indicated by the vapor_source or qc_rh_scaled fields. This problem appears to typically occur when there is moisture impacting the microwave radiometer causing large spikes in brightness temperatures. During these periods the rh_scaled values are often saturated at 101% for much of the profile. |
