Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Radiometer unstable |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The noise diode was unstable and the instrument was unable to calibrate. In addition the instrument did not have a rain mitigation system during the SBS deployment, therefore snow and dew stayed on the lens affecting the measurements. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Incorrect elevation angles |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The radiometer positioner froze because of very cold temperatures and was unable to complete azimuth and elevation scanning. The nominal azimuth and elevation angles recorded in the file are incorrect. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - Intermittent thermal instability |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The radiometers reset the thermal control every time the software was started at 00:00 UTC. It took about an hour to reestablish the thermal control of the instrument after each reset. On Jan 27 a workaround was introduced to avoid this behavior. The software will be modified at the next release. |

Subject: | SBS/MWR3C/M1 - W-band receiver unstable |
DataStreams: | sbsmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | Starting on Jan 27 the W-band receiver experienced extended periods of thermal instability. The origin of the problem was identified as faulty power connectors to the receiver. On Feb 22 the the brackets and mini J-Box were replaced. |

Subject: | TWP/MWR3C/C3 - Incorrect calibration |
DataStreams: | twpmwr3cC3.b1 |
Description: | When the radiometer was relocated to the TWP site the 89-GHz detector non-linearity coefficient got somehow erased from the radiometer memory. The radiometer was therefore unable to calibrate properly. |

Subject: | GAN/MWR3C/M1 - Radiometer instability |
DataStreams: | ganmwr3cM1.b1 |
Description: | The radiometer showed intermittent instability in the 30 GHz and 89 GHz channel. There was a calibration shift between Jan 4 and Jan 8 and a calibration instability between Jan 12 and Jan 20. It may be possible to recalibrate the data when a recalibration algorithm is developed. |

Subject: | SGP/MWR3C/C1 - Incorrect or missing data |
DataStreams: | sgpmwr3cC1.b1 |
Description: | The 89-GHz receiver started to reset itself continuously. The problem was initially identified with a wrong cable connection, but it was later found that one pin in the power connector of the receiver was broken. The pin was pulled out to temporarily start the radiometer. After the receiver was replaced it was discovered that there was an additional problem with water infiltration in the mini j-box. The mini-jbox was removed and sent for repair. |

DataStreams: | sgpmwr3cC1.b1 |
Description: | The surface wind speed and wind direction wre occasionally spiking to large values during daylight hours. The spikes did not match well with co-located MET values. On 7/9 the wind sensor was replaced with a spare. |

Subject: | SGP/MWR3C/C1 - Possible bias in 89 GHz brightness temperatures |
DataStreams: | sgpmwr3cC1.b1 |
Description: | The 89 GHz brightness temperatures appear slightly warm when compared to model computations. The bias appear to be about 1.5 K. This could affect the liquid water retrievals that may display a slight positive bias. |
