Subject:
TMP/MET/M1 - Wind sensor siting not ideal
DataStreams:tmpmetM1.b1
Description:
According to the manual, the wind sensor should ideally be mounted higher than any object
within a 300 meter radius. This particular site is bordered by approximately 20 meter
tall trees (the wind sensor is mounted at 10 meters) from about due west to south/southeast,
at a distance approximately 60 meters or less. Please reference the instrument handbook
or contact the mentor for more information.
Measurements:tmpmetM1.b1:
  • Wind direction vector mean(wdir_vec_mean)
  • Wind speed vector mean(wspd_vec_mean)
  • Wind speed, lower, 1-min avg(wspd_arith_mean)
  • wdir_vec_std

TMP/AOSMET/S1 - Settings for wind measurements
DataStreams:tmpaosmetS1.a1
Description:
Settings for the WXT520 Weather Transmitter were changed may not be as users might expect.

The wind speed and direction was read and recorded every second, but the averaging time
was 3

seconds, not the second of the time stamp.

The wind speed was calculated as Gust & lull, instead of traditional Max/Min values.
Measurements:tmpaosmetS1.a1:
  • Wind speed(WindSpeed)
  • Wind direction, relative to true North(WindDirection)
