Description:
False positive observations occur during foggy periods and the accompanying rain gauges 
should always be consulted.  However, the period covered by this DQR was not foggy and 
false positive readings became an issue.  The instrument was removed for repair in 10/1/2009.

Description:
A number of days during this period show indications of rain on dry days.  This occurred 
during windy periods when vibrations of the splash guard resulted in many small drops 
being recorded.  The splash guard has been removed and the Instrument Handbook has been 
updated with a larger section describing this issue (Section 5.3 on known problems).

Description:
This problem impacts the qc_cld_base_source and qc_cld_frac_source fields in the 
ARMBECLDRAD product, and is described below:

qc_cld_base_source:  The metadata for this field lists possible values of 0, -1, -2, -3, 
and -4.  However, this field contains values equal to -5, which are undefined.  This 
problem is most prevalent in 1996 and 2011, but also occurs in 1997, 2002, 2008, and 2010.  
There is no cld_base field in this VAP, so I'm not sure what this QC field is used for. 

qc_cld_frac_source:  The metadata for this field lists possible values of -1, 1, 2, and 3. 
 However, this field contains values equal to -5, which are undefined.  This problem is 
most prevalent in 1996 and 2011, but also occurs in 1997, 2002, 2008, and 2010.  During 
these periods the cld_frac field is equal to -9999, but a value of -1 in 
qc_cld_frac_source should coincide with these periods.
