The 673 nm filter was erratic on both the Diffuse and Direct Normal data throughout the 
entire day.  When corrective action was attempted, the instrument was damaged.  The 
instrument was taken offline pending repair and not returned to service until 20070627.

Description:
Data from October 1, 1999 through March 2001 from MFRSR.E6 should be used with caution. 
During this time period only minimal quality control and maintenance were provided to the 
SGP extended facility MFRSRs because these data were considered to be of questionable 
value under the best of circumstances. That decision was reversed in  2001 when Joe Michalsky 
identified a means to make the MFRSR data scientifically useable.

In the interim, the MFRSRs developed problems with shading, leveling, calibration and 
all-out hardware failures and the stock of spare MFRSRs was depleted and not replenished. 
Most of the shading and leveling problems have now been corrected in the field as well as 
possible, but almost all of the extended facilty MFRSRs still need to be recalibrated or 
replaced.

Description:
The head temp gets higher than we we would like to see due to high ambient temperatures.  
The head is designed to operate at 40 deg C, and we like to see it stay within a few 
degrees of 40 deg C during normal operation.  When local conditions are hot, the head temp 
can ramp up during the day.  It is unknown what effect, if any, results from high head 
temperatures.  There is nothing obvious in the data to indicate problems.

Description:
This site had a new instrument and logging system installed May 07.  The first data we 
retrieved were in June and the instrument heater was not functioning.  Maintenance on 
8/5/2007 resolved the issue.  The head is designed to operate at 40 deg C, and we like to see 
it stay within a few degrees of 40 deg C during normal operation.  While the irradiance 
data look OK, there could be subtle issues resulting from the head temperature not being 
stable.

Description:
The subject is generically listed as "Shadowband Misalignment" but there is a bit more 
going on, not all is completely understood.  There is a shading problem on the 28th from 
~1430 to 1800.  At the same time, only the diffuse channels 415 and 500 are available.  The 
29th has the same shadowing issue and missing diffuse channels, up until 1900 when they 
all appear.

This situation repeats on 20090130.  It is again just after a period of missing data.  Not 
sure of the connection at this point.
