The anemometers located at all 4 levels (2m, 10m, 20m, and 40m) are heated anemometers.  
The thermistors controlling the amount of power applied to the cups of the anemometers 
failed.  This caused too much power to be sent to the heating elements.  The cups bubbled 
and, in some cases, completely melted through.

10m level became frozen on July 25 2001.  The date that the 20m level became frozen is

as to consistently report wind direction values out of the south.

Due to unknown wiring differences and pin changes by Vaisala to their Wind Speed and 
Direction sensors, a power feedback into the QLI data collector occurred.  This caused an 
overload which shut the QLI data collector down.  Once trouble shooting pinpointed the power 
feedback, wiring diagrams were created and the differences were found.  Wiring was 
changed to prevent and remove the power feedback.

all booms were lowered and re-raised the 10m level came back on line.

A power distribution problem required us to shut down power to the 40m level.  All T/RH 
were missing and the 40m wind sensor did not have heat to remove any ice build up.  All

The wind speed and direction values for 2m, 10m and 20m dropped to zero at 14:20 GMT. The 
cause was a power failure due to failed power line.  Power spikes caused the wind sensors 
to revert to default settings for communications and measurements. The following is a 
list of dates that the various sensors came back online:
  2m wind problem ending on 01/28/2010 @ 2330GMT
 20m wind problem ending on 02/04/2010 @ 2230GMT
 10m wind problem ending on 02/05/2010 @ 2100GMT

The data analysis software for the NSA Met_tower system was upgraded at 2200 GMT
on 8 SEP 1999.  The upgrade included replacement of missing data with -99.99's
when the routine that polled the Met-tower sensors timed out.  This 
resulted in large negative spikes in the 1-min averages.  These spikes 
almost always occurred during the first several 1-min periods of a 
half-hour data processing routine.
On 25 OCT 1999 at 2300 the routine that replaced missing data was changed to 
insert the previous 1-min averaged data instead of -99.99.  Since at the most
only one or two values are missing in ay averaging period, this change 
results in a reasonable estimate of the true mean values
