TWP/MWR/C3 - Sun in field of view of radiometer
DataStreams:twpmwrlosC3.b1, twpmwrtipC3.a1
Description:
Each day around local noon (2-3 AM UTC), there is an increase in the brightness
temperature due to the sun being in the field of view of the radiometer.
Measurements:twpmwrlosC3.b1:
  • Total liquid water along LOS path(liq)
  • 31.4 GHz sky brightness temperature(tbsky31)
  • Total water vapor along LOS path(vap)
  • Radiation, longwave, brightness temperature, 23.8 GHz(tbsky23)

twpmwrtipC3.a1:
  • tbskytip23
  • tbskytip31
  • tipsky23
  • liqtip
  • vaptip
  • tipsky31

TWP/SMET/C3 - Reprocess: ORG Data has very small rainrate values
DataStreams:twpsmet60sC3.b1
Description:
The ORG data is collected via analog signal and not digital. Therefore, we
continuously collect data even when no rain is occurring. We also capture small events
such as leaves, large bugs, dust, etc blowing through the measurement path. Because this
discrete event occurs quickly the value is usually captured for 1 or 2 seconds. This
value is then averaged to the minute producing rainrate on the order of .009 mm/hr or less.

These values are not indicative of rain and should be removed from the record or summing
over long periods can bias the climate record. We will reprocess the data to remove these
small values.
Measurements:twpsmet60sC3.b1:
  • precip_sd
  • Precipitation maximum(precip_max)
  • Precipitation minimum(precip_min)
  • Precipitation mean(precip_mean)
