SGP/AERI/E14 - Failing interferometer

Description:
The interferometer of the sgpE14 AERI system began to fail around 1 Aug 2007. In this
period of time, the interferometer was occasionally 'losing a fringe' and thus introducing
phase shift errors into the data. After this happened a number of times, the
interferometer would lock up and no data could be collected until site operations reset the instrument.

Not all of the data collected during this period are bad (only the samples that were
affected by a phase shift -- about 10% to 25% of data collected each month during the period
were bad) while the rest of the data is of good quality.

The instrument mentor has created Data Quality files that users can use to identify these
bad samples and exclude them from their analysis. Thus, the data for this period are
coded "suspect", because the lion's share of points are actually good but there is a fair
number of samples that are bad and should not be used.
