Hatch controller did not report correctly during entire deployment, likely due to a failed 
monitoring switch in unit.  Please review monthly mentor reports for information on when the

Description:
The chopper motor in the "dry" nephelometer (Neph1) stopped working on Julian day 343.15 
or 12/9/07 0330 UTC. This motor controls a chopper wheel which alternates the signal 
between a "dark" phase, "calibration" phase and signal. Logging on the instrument was turned 
off on 12/18/2007 at 0100 UTC.The second nephelometer (Neph2) was used to replace Neph1. 
Data logging resumed on day 352 or 12/20/2007 using the replacement neph. From day 347 to 
352, Neph 2 was logging data without use of the humidifier. The neph2 data during this 
time can be used as the dry neph scattering coefficients.

Because of motor failure on Neph1 the logging of this instrument was turned off. The data 
logging on Neph2 was switched to log the dry scattering coefficients. The humidifier 
scanning was disabled.  

There are no Wet or humidified measurements of the aerosol scattering coefficients during 
this time period.
