Subject: | SGP/MFRSR/E4 - Bad head temp and voltage data |
DataStreams: | sgpmfrsrE4.b1, sgpmfrsrE4.a0, sgpmfrsrE4.00 |
Description: | Detector voltage and head temperature were erratic and at times wholly incorrect. The first sign of this is on 20040524 just after 2000 UTC. Sporadic irregularities are not altogether unusual, so by itself this is an incident of not much concern. As time went on, however, the erratic readings become more frequent and the head temperature began to be affected as well. Ultimately the problem was traced to a faulty signal cable. The cable was replaced on 20050921 and the head temperature immediately responded with normal readings. The voltage was still a little noisy for a few days, but ultimately reads near constant as expected. Not sure why the voltage was still noisy for those days, but it could either be within normal bounds for this instrument, or possibly the new cable wasn't making a good connection at first. The good news is the mentor believes the irradiance data during the time covered by this DQR are good, so this issue should be essentially transparent to the data user. |
Suggestions: | Just ignore it unless the user is looking at the temp and voltage data. |
