Subject: | SGP/DL/C1 - Scanner malfunction |
DataStreams: | sgpdlppiC1.b1, sgpdlppiC1.a0, sgpdlcal2C1.b1, sgpdlcal2C1.a0 |
Description: | The scanner experienced a malfunction during the period in question. The result was that the azimuth position of the scanner was effectively stuck. This had no impact on the vertical staring data but did impact the PPI data. The PPI data normally should include beams from many different azimuth angles ranging from 0 to roughly 360 deg. During the period in question, the azimuth motor was unresponsive, so the PPI files only contain beams from a single azimuth angle. The azimuth and elevation angles were correctly reported, but the PPI data are not useful for their intended purpose of deriving wind profiles. The PPI data files (sgpdlppiC1.b1) during the effected period contain only slant path staring data, and not PPI scanning data. These data might still be useful for other applications. |
